What I'd Say

A/N: I've never written a Frozen fic that took place before the events of the movie, but I thought I'd try it. It's short, but I hope you like it anyway.

Tomorrow was the day: the day she officially became Queen of Arendelle. To say that Elsa was nervous would be the understatement of the century. She would stand up at the altar, take her vows, and be crowned Queen of Arendelle, in front of hundreds of people. Negative thoughts raced through her head, all of which dealt with how the whole day could go wrong. What if her powers were revealed? What would happen then? Everyone would be frightened of course. They would think she was a monster, and try to hurt her! No, no, no. Elsa remembered what her father told her: conceal, don't feel. Thinking things like this would only cause her powers to go out of control.

Elsa stood in front of her mirror of her nightstand, noticing a picture right bedside it. It was a picture of her and Anna and when they were children. Anna. That was another thing she would have to deal with tomorrow; interacting with Anna for the first time in many years. She had seen glances of her sister over the years, and of course always heard her knocking at her door, but it had been so long since the two actually engaged in a meaningful conversation. Elsa thought more on the matter. What should she say to Anna tomorrow? What do you say to someone you've hardly seen, let alone spoken too, in over a decade?

Maybe she could start off with something simple like, "How's it going?" That's a good way to start any conversation. Of course, it would feel weird saying that to someone who you've shut out for so long. Plus, it sounded too friendly, like something you would say to someone you saw regularly, and God knows she didn't see Anna regularly.

How about this? Maybe she could say something about the weather, that's something people normally talked a lot about, right? She could say, "It looks like it might rain today or it sure is sunny." After all, weather plays a big role in everyone's life. No. That was too boring. Anna would be way too excited about the coronation to want to talk about the weather. Perhaps she should just be brutally honest, and pour her heart out to Anna, and tell her how much she missed her, ever since they were separated. The feeling was undoubtedly mutual, and Anna would go crazy to hear Elsa say such words. But then she would get the idea that things were going to change from here on out, and that unfortunately wasn't the case.

Elsa looked back into the mirror, gazing deeply at the sad expression on her face. What should I say to Anna? What do you say to someone who you love so much, but haven't spoken to in so many years? Keep it simple, Elsa, she thought to herself. That's all you have to do. After all, it's only for one day. Once it's over, it's back to the way things usually went with the gates closed, and being in her room for most of the time. It's back to the same old, lonely life. When talking to Anna tomorrow, just make small talk, a simple hello, tell her how pretty she looks, things of that nature.

Yes, something like that is what she would say to Anna. It wasn't much, but then again, she really didn't know what to say.

A/N: This is just a short one-shot idea I had. I don't think it's that great, but if you liked it, I'm glad. Tell me what you think in the reviews.
