Lucy looked out the window. It was getting so lonely, with her mother being killed, her father never being around. She was going to scream if something didn't happen now. At the age of seventeen and she was probably going to spend the rest of her days sitting in her room and talking with spirits. Oh, the joys of being rich. She flopped back onto her feather bed and thought, "Hey, what if I run away? That'll surely give me some entertainment." So she grabbed a beautiful, soft cotton blanket and neatly folded some clothes in the middle. She rolled it up into a sack, tied it with a ponytail, ate an apple before she left, and set off.

She didn't think it would be that hard. She imagined a romantic, handsome prince to come and sweep her off her feet and take her away. Instead, she tripped and split her skin open. She was sitting and crying because it hurt. She stopped. A rustling in the bushes. She screamed as loud as she could before a hand covered her mouth. She felt something hard hit her in the head and everything went black.

She awoke in a moving wagon with her hands tied, and a gag in her mouth. She observed her surroundings. A pink haired boy, (who was trying to cut the ropes off with his teeth, because his gag had been removed) a little blue haired girl, and a man sharpening a knife. She looked at her cut and was surprised to see green pus oozing out of it. She froze. "Ransom," She screamed in her head. She stared at the pink haired boy. He stared back. His eyes went wide at her cut. He made a silent motion with his hand, telling her to stay quiet or get killed by these lunatics. She nodded. The man looked up, saw contact being made, and stood up. He grabbed Lucy and shoved her onto the floor, when the pink haired boy stood up and kicked him over the edge of the wagon, after grabbing his knife. He cut his bounding rope and set off to free the other girl. When she was free, the boy looked at her and cut her gag off. The pinkie cut her bound hands, and she got the rest of the rope off with ease. "Thank you," she said, flexing her hands. A sudden bump in the road made her lose her footing and knock into the driver. Her turned around and said, "Crap! They're ginn' escape!" He yelled, a British and southern accent slurring his words. He tried to grab her, but she slipped and toppled over the edge of the wagon. The two kids jumped after her. They rolled into a ditch, where the girl stood up, running to catch the wagon. "It'll take me to safety if I jump off at the right time!" She yelled, before jumping back on the wagon.

"Wow," the pinkie said. "That was graceful." He laughed, but a crack in his voice made him stop and cough, as if he had been yelling. "Shut up," She said. "I don't even know you."

"I expected thanks, you know, saving your life and all."

"Well, with you basically shoving me off—'

"-To save your life again—"

"—really ticked me off." She finished, leaving the boy with a defeated loom on his face.

"You're right."

"Huh?" Lucy hadn't expected this. A flaming blaze appeared in the boy's hand, and he smirked. "Come at me!" He laughed, before he extinguished the flame. Lucy glared. She scoffed and said, "Thanks, but no thanks. I didn't need saving."

"Looked like it…" The boy said, hurt in his voice. "How long were you on anyways? I fell asleep with just me and woke up with two other people."

"A few hours," She said. "You?"

The boy sighed. "Four weeks."
