Temptation
A/N: Alright so I thought of this little fic based on speculation of a possible Lincoln/Altlivia relationship, and also because I love this pairing :) Post 3.13 'Immortality'.
Disclaimer: If I owned Fringe Peter would be with our Olivia and Altlivia would be with Lincoln, that would solve this rather volatile love triangle we've got going on.
She could hardly call what she was doing at that moment proper. If anyone knew there would probably be at least half a dozen regulations they could report her for violating.
Like hell she cared.
She hardly kept it secret that Frank had left her; Lincoln may have been quiet but a few passing people at the hospital clearly hadn't. She was grateful at least for his sense of decency, it was something that Olivia found a severe lacking of in people nowadays.
Lincoln had been a source of counsel for her after the fiasco with the bugs, Frank and her pregnancy. It was like a giant avalanche of misfortune crunched into a thick ball of destruction had smashed into her life.
She had become incredibly fond of his kind demeanour since then.
It wasn't the only thing that she'd become fond of.
She noticed the way his jaw tensed at moments of tension; the same way that Broyles' always had. She watched him one time as his shoulders hunched up in anxiousness and shrouded his head behind the fabric of his shirt.
She didn't pretend that there wasn't some sort of unorthodox attraction there, that something in the manner of his actions didn't make her pause. But she pretends like it's nothing to avoid rapprochement under protocol's searing watch.
She found it particularly difficult to do so on the day when Lincoln brought strawberries with him. She watched him snacking on the plump fruit, a few stray rivulets of juice sneaking down his chin. In that moment all she could imagine were the possible patterns that he could trace over his skin with that delectable fruit.
Even mentally slapping herself didn't erase that image from her mind; it had been sketched in ink.
When she went home that night, she decided to forgo her usual salad for something a little more satisfying.
That night she feasted on ripe strawberries, eating an entire bowl before realising they were gone.
For some reason they satiated a hunger that she never knew she had.
Please Review, they brighten my day :)
