The Shuffle Challenge

Here is what to do:

1) Choose a specific pairing/fandom/etc as your topic.

2) Put your iPod/Media Player/CD/iPhone on shuffle.

3) As each song starts, write the title of the song and the singer/band, and then begin writing about your subject. You only have the length of the song to finish, though. Once the song ends, so do you. No exceptions.

Most importantly, HAVE FUN!

Muse – Eternally Missed

He winds up a music box in the back of the room and paces over to his newborn. Percy still couldn't believe that she was gone. Annabeth.

Chase your dreams away.

Why? He picked up his baby – their baby. Their glorious little infant, smiling at Percy. This child would never know a mother's love. And for what? Some silly dream and aspiration that Annabeth felt was more important than their little Aria or Percy's love.

I just don't care if it's real. That won't change how it feels. No, it doesn't change...

"Oh, Annabeth." Percy carried Aria to the window and looked out on the world from his small, New York apartment. "I wish you were here..." he whispered into the wind.

Aria started crying as if she'd understood. Percy cradled her and looked out. The world seemed so dark now, there was no guiding light. His Annabeth was gone. The only piece of her that he had left was this beautiful baby with the same gray eyes as her mother.

A tear slid down his cheek. His world was shattered and the only comfort came from his child.

I will not abandon her. This is my child. And I love her, Percy realized

He turned his back on the window and closed the shades.

You can't resist making me feel eternally missed...

Nine Inch Nails – The Fragile

She stands in the middle of the sidewalk, feeling bodies push her aside and disregard her. She's numb and can hear the discontent and anger in the voices of the people around her. She doesn't understand what she's doing here. I'm meaningless, she tells herself. Insignificant and my life doesn't matter.

He comes up to her and takes her hand. It is warm and he promises to never let her go. "I won't let you fall apart," he says and leads her away.

She starts to understand. She realizes that she shines, he makes her feel special. For the first time, she smiles. A strange thing that lights up her world.

They've found the perfect place to go where they can run and hide. He leads her up the hill and he builds the wall to keep them all on the other side. People still wait on the other side, waiting and picking and picking and picking...

"I won't let you fall apart," he says. "I promised you. You're fragile – you don't see your beauty."

"Why?" she asks, tears in her eyes. She can hear them outside, still picking at their wall.

"It's something I have to do," he says. "I was there too...I couldn't let you fall apart."

And he hugs her and never lets her go, even as their wall comes crumbling down and their world falls apart.
