Elizabeth found herself staring at the stars more often than not. These stars were foreign to her now and they only served as a reminder of what she had left behind.
She never thought it would be easy being back on Earth, neither did she think it would be this hard. In the past two and a half years Elizabeth had come to think of Atlantis as her home. It wasn't just that she didn't connect with Earth anymore, it had her mother and she could never completely abandon it, but it held something that Elizabeth thought she would never find again.
Teyla looked up at the night sky. Before her lay the stars she had gazed upon since childhood but they did not bring her the same comfort as they once did.
There was no cool breeze which brought with it the smell of the ocean, no sound of waves crashing against the distant piers of the city and the people she had come to love like family were no longer there beside her. She had returned to her people after they had been forced to leave Atlantis but Teyla missed her companions with a yearning she had not felt before. For one of them in particular.
Elizabeth remembered the comfort, the laughter and the security. Teyla remembered the strength, the passion and the sincerity.
Both women stopped looking to the stars. In either galaxy it reminded them too much of what they were missing.
