A/N: Well, hello, readers! I've been on a writing role lately, and decided to write my first songfic! It's based on "Nothing Left to Lose" by Mat Kearney. I hope you enjoy it, oh, and reviews mean absolutely everything to me.. Just saying ;)
Something's in the air tonight
They sky's alive with a burning light
You can mark my words something's about to break
It was almost dark out, and we agreed to meet in our usual spot behind the big stack of tires.
"Good evening," he said quietly while he kissed my blushing cheek.
"To you, too," I said, returning the greeting. "What did you want to talk about?"
"Can we meet tonight? Just one more time?" he asked with a desperation in his voice.
"Plat," I whined, "you know how mad my parents got last time we snuck out."
"Victoria," he said as he took my paw lightly, "I'll never let that happen again. This time, it will be special. We'll go somewhere a little farther away. We'll be extra careful this time. Please?"
I couldn't turn him down. I'll admit, our late night adventures were a blast, and it was the only time we got alone. I agreed and we went back to our dens before our parents came looking for us.
So I packed my car and I headed east
Where I felt your fire and a sweet release
There's a fire in these hills that's coming down
We decided on meeting in the east field under the biggest oak tree. I sat eagerly in my bedroom, waiting for my parents to fall asleep. The last thing I needed was to be caught when Plato wanted to see me so badly.
It was two o'clock, and I figured that I'd make my way down the hallway, and exit through the kitchen door instead of the front door. That way, if someone caught me, I could claim to be getting a glass of milk, then return to my room until the coast was clear.
Thankfully, my escape stirred no one in the den. My graceful dancing skills made it so easy to move silently. The adrenaline of sneaking out was addicting, and almost scary, but as soon as I made my way to the oak tree, all my worries melted away.
And I don't know how hard this wind will blow
Or where we'll go
"Finally, you're here," Plato said with a sigh of relief.
The smile that lit up every time I was around him made its appearance as I asked, "Were you worried about me?"
"Of course."
We shared an embrace and a long, slow kiss. Those were my favorite kind. It was the perfect night for cuddling under and oak tree. The air was cool, but not cold, and fireflies showed their glow every so often. If would freeze myself in that moment forever, if I could.
We kissed again, and again. He nuzzled my neck and he climbed on top of me. My beloved tom playfully kissed my ears and then whispered, "Victoria?"
"Yes?"
"I love you, more than life itself. I know they think we're crazy because we're so young, but I have true feelings for you," he said with the purest, most beautiful tone I've ever heard.
A tear of bliss ran down my cheek and moistened my fur. "Plato, I-"
He interrupted me with a passion-filled kiss, "Run away with me."
Without hesitation, I agreed and we left our oak tree and ran. Where were we going? We had no clue, and only the Everlasting Cat knew what the sunrise would bring. All that mattered, right then and there, was the love that Plato and I shared that night.
I'm off the floor one more time to find you
And here we go, there's nothing left to choose
And here we go, there's nothing left to lose
I knew that what Plato and I did was wrong, oh, but it felt so right. I knew that my parents wouldn't approve. We were young, and undoubtedly in love. We had already gotten caught once, so really, what was left to lose?
