When great leaves fall, then winter is at hand - Morgana - G
Summary: Gorlois died when the trees were just beginning to turn the bloody colors of fall.
Note: The title is borrowed from Shakespeare's Tragedy of King Richard the Third, .38. No S3 spoilers here.
Gorlois died when the trees were just beginning to turn the bloody colors of fall. The house became much colder after that. The servants commented on the weather, but Morgana knew it was her father's death that gave her gooseflesh, not the chill air.
Morgana soon came to Uther's castle. The stones on the walls were always cold to the touch; the corridors were enormous and always so empty. Morgana felt dull at night without her father's arms around her, without his beard tickling her neck. Lacking her father's comfort, Morgana's nightmares returned. Sleeping draughts carried her through the winter.
Immeasurable - Uther, Uther/Ygraine - G
Summary: Uther would once have easily thrown all his money away, but now he had something far more precious, something he would never give up.
Uther had only stopped gambling when he began courting Ygraine; she knew that. Though Uther had denied his former habits, Ygraine's smiling eyes convinced him that he was doomed: she knew the truth. Even now, Uther knew Ygraine sensed his thoughts, but she no longer smiled. Uther did not want to take the gamble presented him – not this time. Uther would once have easily thrown all his money away, but now he had something far more precious, something he would never give up. Yet Ygraine wanted a child, and the king needed an heir.
Approaching Nimueh's chambers, Uther sighed resignedly.
