A/N: I'm totally pulling Peter x Gwen here, couldn't help it!
… …
When she called him, he thought it was a dream. Or at least something his mind made up so he can keep going.
But she is here. She is actually here. He crosses the street and the only thing he can see is her. How her locks dance around her face through the wind and how she struggles to put them away.
It's morning, but it couldn't be more cloudy. The sun was missing and everything was blue. He's always loved blue.
He walks to her with a smile that he can't control, not that he wants to. He feels the cold air hitting his skin, and he loves how his hands feel warm in his pockets. He loves the feeling of the coat almost covering all of his neck.
But he loves her more.
And she's smiling. She looks just like him, wrapped in a coat with a scarf that reaches her chin. Her hands are buried in her pockets.
But she's s smiling.
Why is she is smiling?
It has been three years since they had a normal conversation. There are many issues to deal with, she shouldn't be smiling.
His eyebrows are about to furrow when he reaches her, her scent makes him forget everything.
"Hey." She says.
"Hey." He smiles.
For a moment they just stare at each other, eyes wandering from one to another. It's been three years, so excuse them if they need to let it sink.
He notices the drop of her eyebrows, it's momentary but he catches it. That look she has when she feels bad for you.
"So." She beams, and it's more than normal. "Since everything is fine again, the hunter is gone and so is the scar." She looked at his heart for a moment. "I figured it was time."
"Time?" He raises his eyebrows with a smile.
"You know? To be friends again." Her voice goes lower at the last part, and her smile is smaller than before.
He does nothing but raises his eyebrows, tries to collect himself quickly because he doesn't want to be that pathetic guy.
"Mhm." He mumbles before looking away with a smile.
"Well, we uh, we gotta put some grounding rules."
"Some grounding rules?" She raises her eyebrows in confusion.
"Yeah, you know, to keep things under control."
"Okaaay, like what?" She rolls her eyes.
"Uh, for a start you gotta put your hair up." His lips curve into thin line.
"My hair?" She asks as her hands go for it. "What's with my hair?"
"Seriously?" He opens his mouth. "Come on, Caroline. You know what's with your hair."
"Okay, if that's so then you should change your hero hair too." She shrugs.
"I don't think that's even possible." He narrows his eyes and lets his heart tremble when she giggles.
"Okay, wait here's a real one, don't- don't look at me… with… that look." She gets lost in his eyes just as she mentions it. And he enjoys it.
"Ugh." He groans. "Fine." He looks back at her with both eyes closed again and she giggles once more. "Two can play this game, you can't say 'seriously' or 'shut up' ever again."
"What? You can't delete words; that's not fair!" She says as they both turn around and walk. "Well…" She pauses with a frown and her eyes shine as she finds her next rule. "Don't hold my hands then." She looks at him with a smile. And he only presses his lips.
Nodding, he finds his next one.
"Don't dance with me." He says, voice low.
She nods as she holds the groan in before turning to him and stopping in her spot. He does the same thing and now they're facing each other again.
"Don't let your heart race again when we're together." She says gently.
"Don't love me again."He says with a serious face.
"Okay" She nods to herself once her smile had fallen.
