This is taking place AFTER the events of Mr. Monk and Mrs. Monk. It could be considered a sequal to Reunited and it assumes that the woman was really Trudy
He could hear her silent screams but he couldn't move or speak. She was entrapped in that GAFORSAKEN place. It wasn't long but it seemed like forever. Tears streamed down her eyes and simultaneously down his.
"I love you," he mouthed to her
He could feel his friend gently place his hands on his shoulder
"It's okay Monk," Leland said, "it won't be too long now"
"It's already been too long," Adrian said, "even a second is too long"
"You'll see her again," Leland assured him
"Besides it's been so long already," Randy continued, "what's another few months"
Monk shook his head.
"It's more then that," he said, "h-how could I have let her down"
"Believe me," Leland told him, "you did the right thing"
"I let her down," Monk repeated, "how is that right"
"Did you ever stop to think maybe you didn't let her down," Leland asked
"LOOK at where she is," Monk roared in agony, "and it's because of me"
"Monk get a grip. It isn't because of you. She's where she is because…"
He didn't hear the rest.
It was like a blur. Everything was swimming in his head. He felt like he was falling… falling… falling… falling—than he sat up in bed. He looked over to his left. Trudy was sleeping peacefully beside him.
She woke up when she heard him though.
"Adrian," she asked sleepily, "honey what- why are you shaking"
He threw his arms around her.
"I love you so much I can't even begin to explain it," he told her
"And I love you," she soothed, "but why are you so upset?"
He told her all about it. He told her everything. He started at the beginning and went on to the end. A slow smile spread across her face.
"Adrian first of all that never happened," she reminded him, "honey you just had a dream"
"It was no dream Trudy," he told her shaking, "it was a nightmare!"
"It's all over now," she soothed, "and Adrian I love you. Things change in this world but one thing that will never change is the love I have for you. You aren't just the love of my life. You are my life"
