Disclaimer I don't own this show (it sucks but I have to be real), I just write fanfiction for fun.
Author's notes: This is a challenge that I am doing where Steve loses his daughter and after that joins the navy, here is the link topic/86673/90800551/1/
2001
Steve was in the hospital because he and his daughter Dixie were in a car accident, it wasn't even Steve's fault but Steve being Steve blamed himself.
He hated seeing his little girl like this, he tried to comfort her but she sensed his fear, she's 2, most 2 year olds wouldn't even know how to sence it, Dixie did because she is her father's daughter.
Steve's mind was thinking about Dixie's mother, Dixie never knew her mother, it wasn't really a loss on Dixie's part or Steve's part but it would've been nice for Dixie to have a mother.
A couple hours later and Dixie has died, Steve's tears could fill an ocean, the doctor was trying to comfort him but that wasn't going to work because he was doctor.
Steve couldn't keep it together at Dixie's funeral, nobody could, not Mary, not Aunt Debbie, not even John McGarret could keep it together.
2006
Steve just got into the Navy Seals, 5 years after he joined the Navy he got into the seals, it was hard, both physically and mentally hard, he was content with the Navy, it could never make him happy, those days died when Dixie died, he still cried sometimes, when he was alone, not many people in his platoon knew about Dixie, he didn't want to explain her death to them, it was to hard for him.
2010
Steve just herd his father being shot, while he wasn't really close to his father it still hurt, he met Danny while in his fathers house, their friendship started rocky, especially because Danny was shot on the first day of being partners.
A couple of weeks later and Steve meets Danny's daughter Grace, he didn't really know what to say to Grace, Danny took that as Steve's bad with kids, Steve will let him think that for now.
A few mouths after Steve met Grace, Danny finds Steve crying, it's not normal for Steve to cry, Danny doesn't really like seeing Steve cry.
"Are you alright Steve?" Asked Danny.
"No, not really Danno" Answered Steve.
" Is it fixable?"Asked Danny.
"No" Answered Steve.
"Can you tell me?" Asked Danny.
"l'll try, I had a daughter called Dixie, some idoit decided to drink and drive, hit my car with Dixie and I in it, she died 6 hours later, today she's dead 9 years" Answered Steve.
"That's why you don't know how to deal with kids, damn that must be hard" said Danny.
"Yeah, it still hurts so much" said Steve.
While Steve couldn't bring his daughter back he can finally accept that she's gone.
