The scene: Yue is looking on as Sokka and Suki meet up at a moonlit dance to celebrate the homecoming of the Kyoshi warriors.
Sokka sat at one of the tables when the Kyoshi warriors, led by Suki, (still as beautiful as ever) entered. He swallowed his last bite and stood to greet them. Suki turned and whispered to her fellow warriors, then left them with their families. She turned back around and walked over to Sokka.
Where has the time gone? Sokka thought to himself as she came over to join him.
I
hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to
eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single
breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
Sokka and Suki stood there for a moment, their eyes locked. He reached out and took her hand. He led her to a part of the beach that sat unoccupied. Yue smiled and splashed a little water on their feet. (A/n-the moon controls the tides) Sokka looked up. The moon seemed to smile down at him. It was as though Yue was smiling down on him, telling him that it was okay to love her, and still love Suki. He kissed Suki gently, and then smiled back up at Yue.
Thank you, Yue, for keeping her safe, he thought to himself.
I
hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever
one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give
faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out
or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
Sokka took Suki's hand and led her back to the dance floor. They danced together for the whole night. Knowing that Yue was looking out for them helped him know that he could dance with Suki and not worry about caring too much about her. He could love Yue and Suki.
I
hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle
for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But
they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's
worth making
Seeing her again was exactly what he needed. It filled him with joy and love.
Don't
let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close
to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than
just a passing glance
Sokka stood at the back door of Suki's little apartment. She opened the door when he rang the bell. He kneeled, and proposed to her. They were married a few days later.
And
when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I
hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)
Later, he would tell his kids about that night on the beach, and about how Yue looked after Suki, bringing her back to help him.
I
hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever
one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give
faith a fighting chance
He would give them the same message Yue had given him that night. Dance.
And
when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone, tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder where those years have gone)
