*Author's note:This story ties in to my previous story, Metroid: Prime vs X. If you haven't read it yet, do so before you get any further, as some characters and concepts will not make any sense otherwise.
Prologue
The sky shone brightly and Samus was walking through a field. She was in her Zero suit, and the breeze hit her soft, rosy face. Her long blond hair blew back with the soft wind, glimmering in the sunlight. Without warning, the sky turned black as dense clouds covered it. She looked up, and saw Ridley swooping down from the sky. Suddenly, she was four years old again, and on home world, the planetary colony of K-2L. Her mother, Virginia, stood in front of her, keeping the huge beast from hurting her. Everything began to turn red as the tyrannical creature devoured her mother.
In the sky, a mining ship was being attacked by space pirates. Samus' father Rodney was on board and was trying to protect the cargo of a precious mineral from falling into their hands. He managed to destroy the ship to keep the mineral from falling into the wrong hands, but had died as a sacrifice.
Samus stood on the ground, unable to do anything to help them. She was overcome with anger and sorrow, and her emotions got the best of her. All of a sudden, she was in her power suit, and a dark figure was standing in front of her, growing larger and larger. It grabbed Samus, and was going to devour her. As she came closer to the creature's mouth, she heard several beeps. She recognized the sound and knew then, that she was dreaming.
