Wish Granted
He had made a wish. And Yuuko, being the wonderful witch that she was, had him pay for it. In more ways than one. It's not that he wasn't grateful, because being able to stand outside and watch the spirits that used to plague him walk by without even the slightest glance in his direction was nothing short of a miracle. It's just that, after all those payments, he hadn't wished it to end because of…..him.
He owed Doumeki so much, and over the years he tried to be as grateful as he could (he had made the idiot lunch every day for the past four years!) And he was sometimes glad that his rival had been around, because otherwise he would most likely have died long ago. But did this have to happen?! Did Yuuko always have to be right?
He leaned against the fence in front of his new apartment, thinking back on everything. Working with Yuuko, running errands with that…idiot, and all of the other events that had shaped his life and who he had become. He even reflected on how his relationship with Doumeki had changed.
Ok, no, there had to be a better description than that. What he…had with that big oaf can't be called a relationship…right? No way, he's too…annoying!
No, maybe there's still just a part of him in denial. Because they were now in a definite relationship. And two weeks ago that relationship had finally (finally?) progressed to…the bedroom. (It was still hard for him to believe it, and he blushed furiously at the memory.)
But that night (and the next night….and every night since then) something happened between them. Not something emotional, but something spiritual, so to speak. It was as if a part of Doumeki's spirit had been transferred to Watanuki. Because now he was no longer a spirit magnet.
His wish had been granted. In more ways than one. He was now able to walk outside without the fear of being eaten. And he didn't have to walk everywhere with that big idiot tagging along like some unrelenting stalker.
Not that Kimihiro would go anywhere without Shizuka at this point. He smiled to himself as the aforementioned idiot walked out of his…no, their, new apartment, laying a comforting arm around his shoulders.
