Prologue

There are whispers of a time when the world is held together by a thin golden thread. Light and dark, good and evil are at a junction; while standing together they both cease to exist for one brief moment in time. Through this faint light and dim darkness the world is unclear, and anything which is viewed is uncertain and dubious. It is half-light, when it is unknown if the sky's last gasp for breath will yield light or darkness.

A dusty book sits in Carlisle's library, waiting for attention. It tells of the days when creatures of the dark and those of the earth were not yet accursed and chaos was the force commanding the world. Chaos cycled through death and birth, yet lives were all eternal. Eternity took many forms. The old pages hold the stories of a great war, ripping apart the earth and murdering with blade and fire. Creatures were slaughtered into extinction, for chaos no longer reigned supreme and eternity had no holdings on life or death. Those not massacred were sent into perdition. In the dark clouds following the battle, the chasm of the earth was sewn together with the thinnest golden thread by creatures not guilty of ignominy. Those who did not raise their heads, with a fiery glimmer in their eyes to take up arms, were rewarded. Their heads now forever bowed to the ground, their hands labouring in the soil, and their lives changing with the fallen Autumn Leaves. The creatures of the earth walk the line of the chasm, toiling in the land which now holds little they recognize.

Half-light signals the meeting of all things, when what is known and what is myth is indistinguishable. Some have met this moment in time, like Isabella Swan, a light-walker who met chaos and eternity during twilight. Chaos seized another to cycle through eternity. The chasm is opening, the golden thread coming loose.

Author's Note:This story will use all of the relationships from Canon and will focus on Edward/Bella. There will be an OC who is pivotal to the plot, but will not interfere with any romantic relationships, have no fear! I know this was short, but I have an idea blossoming in my head, and I wanted to throw this down before it all escaped.
