Judgment's Fires

Ziggy's Corner: It has been so long since I worked in the very first area of this site I came to. I do intend to continue with my fiction, and you might even see a good deal more one shots and poems, as this is. This is my first every sonnet, and I'm a little nervous and unsure of myself as I prepare it, so it might not be award winning in stature, but I hope its still good nevertheless. it's a prayer, spoken by Robin, who though now the most powerful witch in the world, is still the loyal servant of her God and His Church… even if she's not so big on serving the self-serving fiends who abuse the office their Lord granted them.

In the name of my blessed Creator,

I admit my sins, dark yearnings of the mind,

Like judgment's fires, they do consume more,

Confusions they do afflict every kind.

And I ask, why must I falter now, Lord,

Why do you enrich those who smite me down,

With Your judgment's fires that bring the horde,

And on Your child's head, place a bloody crown.

I hold two masks, my Father, black and white,

One with grace to continue with bent knees,

The other a fist, against thrones of night,

But which should bring judgment, to cleanse men's seas?

Father, though a witch's power I own,

Plant the seeds of wisdom, let them be sown.

Ziggy's Zone: Okay basically what I wanted to do here, was show that she's pissed at being chased, at being persecuted for what she is through no fault of her own, yet she realizes that there's one power greater than her's and she waits patiently for something greater than the power of judgmental fire, and that's wisdom to know how to see the world. Again, this is my first Sonnet, so its not great, I know, but hopefully its at least… good. Thanks for reading.
