All she could do was run.
The stars were already out and the nights air was getting cooler now.
Her heart was thumping so hard that it felt like it was going to come out of her chest. She could feel the kunai in her back shift with every step she took. Her blood was dripping down her legs and creating a trail behind her.
She was halfway to death.
Her heart racing, her instincts had fully taken over, enabling her to hear the beats of human hearts not a mile away.
The footsteps of her assailant had stopped a few miles back. She prayed to Kami that he stopped chasing her.
When she started slowing down she knew it was because of the kunai that was stabbed in her thigh. It slipped up and down in her leg, slicing deeper with every movement she made.
As she came out of the tree line she almost dropped with relief seeing the large village gates. The gates were still open and there was someone sitting at the entrance. Her primal need for safety over ruled all of her pain, causing her to ignore it and limp as fast as she could toward the person sitting down. Right as she past through the large green gates the pain got so bad that she dropped to her knees, alarming the man sitting.
The man sitting at the entrance looked up and gaped in horror at the sight in front of him. There was a girl covered in blood with many kunai stuck in her back and thigh. From what he could tell, the girl was nearing death.
He jumped from his seating position and ran toward the injured girl calling out for help along the way. A nearby silver-haired ninja ran to his side and took in the sight before him.
The girl looked up at the sound of multiple foot steps. She could make out two people from the blurs that were popping up in her vision.
She was about to start defending herself when everything faded to darkness and silence. Numbness traveled from her back to her chest and she immediately knew that she wouldn't be able to move anymore, leaving her body limp.
The men at her side continued to try for a response. Nothing. It was then they realized she was unconscious.
