"Light!"
Misa ran into the room and firmly glomped onto her fiance, who squeezed her shoulders and smiled distractedly.
"Misa killed them for you!" she said, backing up to look at Light's eyes. "Misa wants to know when Light will be coming to bed."
"Not tonight. Not for a while anyway. I have work to do." Light looked back at the computer monitor on his desk and gave an almost-longing sigh.
Misa pouted. "But Light always has work. Misa wants to be part of Light's life too."
Light smiled lightly. "You go on to bed. It's late and you have a shooting tomorrow," he said in a caring tone. "I'll come later."
Once in bed, Misa sighs. She know Light won't come in until he thinks she is sound asleep. But she also knows why.
Light is a rising star on his way to his title of god and she is only a tool. A useful tool, as of present, but still only a tool to be discarded down the road like a saw gone dull.
Light had agreed to marry her, but only because needed her cooperation at the time he said that. She knows he only holds her hand to keep her under his watchful eye, much like L used the chain and handcuffs so long ago. He smiles and looks softly at her seemingly on a whim, but Misa knows he's only doing that to lure her into his trap.
She's falling headfirst into that trap, and she knows there's nothing she can do about it. Misa wants to be with Light forever. She wants to walk beside him on his chosen path of darkness and help him along the way, although she knows he will never accept her help. She wants to smile and hold his hand and see him smile back with the same emotions as she has. She wants to keep him with her forever.
When Light walks into the room sometime later, Misa gets up to greet him. She walks over to him, takes his hand, and smiles.
Look at me! Look at my smile and see my love for you.
But all he can see are her eyes.
