Prologue
CloudSky could not believe her eyes.
There was nothing left. Wild, black grass stood out in the expanse of land, their roots blowing away in the breath of a wind. The river was nothing more than a blank stream, a niche in the ground that never left- a permanent imprint.
Jagged, yellow and black clumps of dry leaves fluttered in the gray sky, plumes of smoke drifting up into smaller tendrils until they all disappeared.
"What happened?" she whispered. Her feathers reflected the bright sun like cat eyes in the dark, skulking. A cloud passed over the sun, shading the dark expanse. The dead trees and the scorched earth... that was all.
A terror so large built up in CloudSky, her wings waving, terrified. Her wing tips raced to catch the lift in the breeze, something that would take her far, far away. Grass blew off into the air, and she caught the wind, lifting, lifting.
She soared off into the air, faster and faster, away from the dreaded remains of her clan.
But the memory would haunt her forever.
I know- the prologue is so short and vague. Well, can't let readers know the true plot, eh? :D Read and Review! *inserts puppy eyes*
A/N- (about plot of story) this story takes place with hawks replacing the cats. Well, mice don't sound right and horses just are plain weird (as well as dogs). So I ended up with birds and chose hawks. :) R & R!
