My little girl met a new friend
Just the other day
On the playground at school
Between the tires and the swings

My little girl, Gabriella, came home a while ago and said that she had met a new girl at school, she said her name was Sharpay Evans and that they were friends.

But she came home with tear-filled eyes
And she said to me "Mommy, Alyssa Lies"

But a few days later she came home crying and said Sharpay lied.

I just brushed it off at first
Cause I didn't know how much my little girl had been hurt

At first I didn't think much about it. Just thought it was something silly.

Or the things she had seen
I wasn't ready when I said you can tell me

I thought Sharpay lied about something small so I said gabby could tell me.

And she said

To the classroom

Everyday at school

To the teacher
As she tries to cover every bruise

My little girl laid her head down
That night to go to sleep

That night I calmed her down, and put her to bed.

As I stepped out the room I heard her say
A prayer so soft and sweet

Like everynight she would say her prayers, but that night her prayer stopped me cold.

And my new friend Alyssa
I know she needs it bad

I had the worst night of sleep in years
As I tried to think of a way to calm her fears

As I lied in bed I tried to think of something I could do.

I knew just what it was I had to do
But when we got to school on Monday I heard the news

I had my idea but when i drove gabby to school I learned the bad news.

My little girl asked me why everybody looked so sad

Gabby didn't understand why everyone there was so sad.

The lump in my throat grew bigger
With every question that she asked

She kept asking questions and each one made my eyes well up a little more.

Until I felt the tears run down my face
And I told her that Alyssa wouldn't be at school today

When I started feeling the tears roll down my cheeks, I told here Sharpay wouldn't be there today.

She doesn't lie
In the classroom
She doesn't lie
Anymore at school
Sharpay lies
With Jesus
Because there's nothing anyone would do

Sharpay had died becuase every one knew, and no one did anything.

Tears filled my eyes
When my little girl asked me why
Sharpay lies

Sharpay lies

It was after Sharpay's fueneral that I told Gabby what had happened.

Sharpay's father had beaten her almost everyday, which is why she had the bruises. Sharpay did at one point have a twin brother, named ryan. But the father had murdered him, because he wanted just a daughter, but the charges were never proven, in ryan's case. But the problem was in his eyes she was a disapointment, so he began beating her. That night he had become drunk and ended up killing her over homework that wasn't quite done.

It has been years since that has happend, and Gabby has grown up considerably. But every sunday she still takes two roses to the cemetary. One for Sharpay and the other for ryan. Two angels who never got a chance to spread their wings here on earth.

A/N: this was set when they were about 10 or so. it pretty much make me cry when i was writing it , also becuase i was listening to it on my mp3 player.
