The Best Idea's

Remus rolled his eyes as Sirius bounded about in the snow, his paws sliding about as tried to chase a bird. Shaking his head, Remus watched with bemusement as Sirius played much like an excitable puppy would. Surely, a man in his twenties should know better than this? Still, at least it was only Sirius here. Remus couldn't even imagine what mischief would happen if James was here too.

Luckily, Lily had him on a tight leash today. She taken him to her parent's to exchange Christmas gifts. Remus only knew that because James had spent three hours complaining about it the night before, particularly about Lily's sister Petunia and her complete crackpot of a boyfriend.

Lost in his thoughts, Remus didn't notice what Sirius was doing until it was too late.

"No, don't lick that!" he shouted, even as he saw Padfoot's tongue stick to the icy metal fence.

He walked over, not surprised to find Sirius sitting with a complete look of surprise on his face. Remus winced when Sirius tried to pull away from the post, yelping when it didn't work.

"Hold on, stupid idiot," Remus muttered quietly, sliding his wand from his sleeve. Glancing around to make sure no muggles could see him, he silently cast a charm to make hot water run from his wand.

Sirius yelped again as the water hit his tongue, and he tried to pull away again. The water helped, and as Sirius pulled, he became unstuck, ending up falling backwards.

Remus laughed despite himself, and with another quick glance around, he motioned for Sirius to turn back into his human self.

As the dog morphed back into a human, Remus couldn't stop the laughter still coming out of his mouth.

"It wasn't that bloody funny," Sirius groaned as he stood up, wincing as he felt his tongue. "Stupid fence."

"You should try being on this side of it," Remus replied, laughing again when Sirius kicked the fence, managing nothing more than stubbing his toe and hopping around howling in pain.

"I want to go home," Sirius complained, pouting. "I don't like the snow any more."

Shaking his head once more, Remus gestured for Sirius to follow him. "Come on. I'll heal your tongue at home and make some hot chocolate."

Sirius smiled, linking his arm with Remus. "You always have the best ideas."

"Hmm. Remember that next time I tell you it's not a good idea to play in the snow as Padfoot, huh?"
