"I already told you, I'm fine"
Tails could only roll his eyes. He knew Sonic was stubborn but this was enough. He watched him stumble as Sonic got up from the sofa to prove himself. Tails also knew Sonic was far from fine even as he was trying to convince him otherwise.
Around a week ago Sonic started to get a cold. It got worse, of course, when he refused to take simple medicine. Just a few days later he came down with a fever.
Maybe it was his way not to worry Tails but acting like nothing was wrong really didn't ease his mind.
"Sonic, don't be ridiculous! This has been going on for a week now and you only get worse the more you struggle with letting me help you. And please, for the love of Chaos, sit down again!"
Well, at least he listened to some things Tails said. With his hands holding his heads he sat back down. Sonic wouldn't say it out loud but his head already hurt and feeling lightheaded only after standing up made him rethink his decision to ignore Tails' help.
"I… ugh, sorry Tails", was all Sonic said. Being sick wasn't something he was used to. Normally, at least he thought so, he could pretty much take care of himself good enough.
Tails sighed. Sometimes he wondered why his brother decided to be so difficult.
"If you had let me help you from the start you wouldn't even be in this position and I think you know that", Tails scolded. Sonic just nodded then groaned when room spun with the movement.
"Alright, that's it. Lie down. And will you finally tell me what exactly is wrong?" Tails sighed in relieve when Sonic made to lie down on the sofa, took the blanket from next to him and wrapped it around his body.
"Cold, little dizzy, sore throat", was all Sonic mumbled before he closed his eyes. Maybe sleeping would get rid of this stupid headache as well. "Head hurts..."
Sonic let out a relieved breath when he felt something could on his head. He kind of forgot about the fever and the towel on his head felt great. Good thing Tails thought more about him then he himself did right now.
"You should drink more, as well. It will help", he heard Tails say. He groaned once again, when he moved to take the glass of water Tails handed him.
The water helped only a little but it felt good either way. "Thanks, lil' bro."
"Sometimes I wonder how you'd even survive without me. You could've let me help you before all this. But you're welcome anyway. Get some sleep, Sonic", Tails smiled at Sonic, even though he didn't see it. He had closed his eyes and was almost ready to sleep.
"All right lifesaver, whatever you say", Sonic smiled as well.
"Sorry 'm so stubborn most of the time", he mumbled afterwards.
"Well, I'm used to it. Kinda... Would help if you could turn it down a notch though." Tails crossed his arms and smiled down at him.
Sonic opened one eye and after a second responded. "Where's the fun in that?"
Tails just rolled his eyes. "Sleep", he said again and walked down to his workstation when Sonic finally closed his eyes again and fell asleep. Getting Sonic to agree with him can really be difficult but he always did in the end. It would still be better when Sonic did that earlier, so it didn't come down to situations like these.
It didn't matter to Tails that his brother was stubborn anyway. As long as he can help him at the end of a day, he will always be happy. After all, he wants to return the favor that Sonic took care of him for all these years just as much.
He felt great when Sonic recovered a few days later and smiled at him in thanks.
Brothers are there for each other.
So much is true for him.
Alright, so this is my first fanfiction. I really hope you liked it. English is not my first my language, so if there are any mistakes I am sorry.
