A/N: Written for Challenge #47 on xoxLewrahxox's Bellatrix Lestrange forum.

"Prompt: write a fic in which one or more characters come into contact with a Muggle artefact. It can either play a prominent role or just be obliquely mentioned, so long as it's there.

Word count: 100, 500, or 1,000 words."

I actually don't know how any of this happened.

I don't feel this is a very clear story, so if you have trouble understanding the point in it, it was just to show how sadistic Bella was even at a young age, but how she found use in even the most simple things.

Voldemort looked down at the Muggle toy in boredom. He had always found anything even partly related to Muggles pointless, and he felt irritation that even a little pureblooded girl was interested in a piece of round wood with string wrapped around.

"But look what it can do," Bellatrix insisted, grabbing the squirming mouse from beneath her small foot.

Wrapping the string around the mouse's neck, she tied a knot, pulling it tighter–tighter–tighter.

Eyebrows raised, Voldemort watched as the life was squeezed out of the rodent.

"See, my Lord?" Bellatrix said triumphantly. "I did say it was useful."
