One day long, long ago two sibling wolf cubs were walking through the forest along an old beaten path that they had never been down before. They walked so far down the path they had no idea where they were anymore. Both of them got scared and the brother cub suggested turning around, his sister agreed with him so they went to turn around. After they turned around they noticed that the path they had taken was no longer there.

Both siblings started to panic and cry out for help. Soon enough it became dark and they were still howling into the night for help. Eventually, a sly fox came along and asked the two siblings what was wrong. They answered that they had wandered down an old path that neither of them knew, and asked if she could help them find their way back. She looked back at them with a smirk and answered "yes I could definitely help you find your way back, just follow me." The two siblings said yes gratefully and followed the foxes lead.

The fox decided that instead of taking the two young wolf cubs back to their mother, she would lead them up into the valley, going higher up into mountains. The cubs mentioned that they didn't think they were going in the right direction and none of this looked familiar to them. The fox just looked back and said that you can't go back on that path, you have to go forward. The siblings looked at each other and both silently agreed that, that must be true, so they kept on following the fox.

The fox kept on going until finally the cubs were too tired to go on. The siblings collapsed saying "we can't go on anymore tonight." The fox said "Ok, we can rest for a while. I'll just wake you up when it's time to start moving again." The cubs thanked her gratefully and fell asleep. Once the fox certain they were asleep she slipped away going back down to her home, leaving the two cubs to fend for themselves.

When the two cubs woke up they noticed that the fox was gone. They howled and howled until they realized that no one was going to come by. Once this realization hit, the cubs survival instincts kicked in and they started to explore their new territory. They spent the rest of their days up in that mountain, but every night they still went out howling up into the sky in hopes that their mother will hear them and come looking for them.
