I watched my footing as I walked down the gravel road. It was dark and the songs I was singing definitely weren't helping with my nerves. Every few steps I could feel someone's eyes boring into my back but every time I turned around to catch the culprit there was no one there. I felt a chill go up my spin and clutched my coat closer as if it would protect me. Subconsciously, my feet began to move quicker and my voice started to shake but I couldn't stop singing because then there'd be no noise and I'd go crazy.

I rounded the corner and nearly cried with relief when I saw the house. I was almost there, almost safe. Then I heard the banging of trash cans directly to my right. I yelped and spun around but there was nothing there. The feeling of being watched started again and I swear I felt cold fingers lightly touch my neck. I spun again but there wasn't anything there. Was I losing my mind? Was none of this actually happening?

I thought I saw something move in my peripheral vision but there was only a tree in a field. It was just the wind in the leaves, I told myself shakily. I wouldn't let myself realize that the air was still. I continued to walk to the house but slowly this time, cautious for any sound. Part of my mind told me I wouldn't be able to hear it over the pounding of my heart. I somehow managed to make it to my front porch intact but I could still feel someone's eye boring into my back.

My hands were shaky and I kept looking over my shoulder ever few minutes to be sure nothing was coming after me. It took a while but the door finally opened and I rushed to close and lock it behind me. I immediately went around shutting and locking all the windows in the house.

When all the windows were locked I felt a bit safer and my heart finally slowed. Mentally worked up I managed to convince myself I'd made the whole thing up and that locking the windows was ridiculous but I wouldn't open one for the world. I headed up to my room and noticed something out of the corner of my eye but before I even turned all I felt were teeth biting into my skin.

My heart started beating like crazy and I tried to fight him off but nothing I did fazed him. Terrified I lashed out squirming and kicking and yelling even worse then before but if anything I only managed to break a leg in the process. He was as hard as stone, it took longer then it should have for me to realize what he was doing but when I did a whole new round of terror hit me. He was going to kill me, he was drinking my blood.

The last thing I saw were his bright red eyes staring devilishly at me.
