Penny for Your Thoughts

Disclaimer: Not mine. And this is based on a very cute Calvin and Hobbes comic strip, which is also not mine.

Kate looked over at Tony. He was staring determinedly at his computer, but not doing anything with his hands.

"Penny for your thoughts, Tony," Kate called over, making Tony turn towards her.

"My thoughts are a dollar," he told her, smirking.

"A dollar?" she scoffed. "Forget it. Your thoughts aren't worth that much."

"This one is," he said tauntingly. "If you knew what it was, you'd pay more than a dollar for it."

"Go on, tell me." Kate tried very hard not to kick herself after she said that. She'd fallen right for Tony's trap, and he knew it.

"Nope," he grinned. "Cough up."

"I have 25 cents," Kate grumbled. "It's all you're getting."

Tony shrugged indifferently.

"Ok. Let's see it."

Kate shoved her hand in her pocket and pulled out a quarter. She tossed it over to Tony, who caught it easily.

"A fool and his money are soon parted," he laughed, pocketing his coin.
