Whoo it's Percy's birthday so here's a quick Drabble to celebrate.
Also, I'll be doing a Percabeth fic sometime, so yeah.
"Piper." Annabeth ran into her room. "Get up."
"Why?" Piper asked frantically. "Monster attack?"
"No, no, sorry to burst in like that." Annabeth said hurriedly. "It's just... If we all don't die tomorrow-"
"Today." Piper interrupted, motioning to the clock on her nightstand, showing that it was midnight and no longer July thirty first.
"Right." The daughter of Athena smiled at her friend. "Anyway, if we all survive, Percy's birthday is the eighteenth. And I wanted all of you guys to sign a card."
"In the middle of the night?"
"Percy's a heavy sleeper, and I want it to be a surprise." Annabeth explained. "So can you help me get everyone else up?"
"Sure, sure." Piper got out of bed, yawning, and made her way to Hazel's room.
"Why are we up again?" Jason asked groggily. He looked half asleep, as did most of the others.
"Percy has a birthday coming up, so I wanted all of you to sign the card." Annabeth explained.
"What if we all die tomorrow?" He muttered.
"Why are you so pessimistic?" She mocked his tone.
"Its better to either be right or pleasantly surprised than disappointed all the time." Jason shrugged.
"Just sign the stupid card." Annabeth set the birthday card and pen on the table. After about fifteen minutes, everyone had passed it around, signed it, and written a little note as well.
"Okay, this one is from..." Percy read the envelope. "The Seven. Wow. When did you guys do this?"
Annabeth smiled slyly. "Just open it, Seaweed Brain."
Percy opened it, and read all of the messages from his friends, smiling.
Percy,
You're pretty cool. If we all survive this, I'd like to get to know you better sometime. That's all. I'm bad at writing heartfelt stuff.
-Leo
Leo's absence still hung in the air, although no one mentioned his death.
Dear Percy,
Happy Birthday! I loved being on the Argo II with you; you're such a fun person to be around. Hope you have a good one.
-Piper
Percy grinned. Piper was like a sister to him, and they'd gotten closer over the summer.
Happy birthday (if we're not all dead by the time you read this anyway). Even if I was a little intimidated by you at first, that's all passed and you're probably one of my closest friends. Okay, that's it.
-Jason
P.S.: clogs.
Percy couldn't help but chuckle at the mention of their inside joke at the end.
Dear Percy,
I'm so lucky to have a friend like you. Happy birthday!
Sincerely, Hazel.
Hazel's handwriting was in cursive, and hard to decipher for a dyslexic, but Percy managed to read it with some difficulty and felt touched by all of the kind words so far.
Happy birthday Percy! I hope you have a great day!
-Frank
And finally, was Annabeth's note. It took up almost half of the card in her messy handwriting.
Seaweed Brain,
Where do I even start? Let's see, I went on my first quest with you when we were twelve, and you've been there for me ever since. Through thick and thin, all of our crazy demigod shenanigans, haha. Love you. I never thought that I would fall for you, my best friend, that annoying guy that I went on a quest with, but I know it's absolutely perfect. I love you to Olympus and back.
-Annabeth
Reviews are greatly appreciated. :)
Also, for a future fic, would you prefer
A) Jasper just going on a date, doing normal stuff and whatnot.
B) Percabeth sick fic because that has been suggested by one of my most loyal readers (carameltootsieroll ;))
C) Jasper post BOO hurt/comfort because they lost their best friend
D) tell me what you'd like to read.
