A/N: Just something that popped into my head. I know the Chinese New Year isn't until Feb 10th, but I thought I'd get this out there. It can be a one-shot, but I might continue it in the future. By the way, Ryuken is my OC. He is used in my other story Esperando.

Disclaimer: I don't own Spirited Away.

"The year of the dragon is coming to an end, eh Haku?" I sighed to myself. I was sitting on the couch in my living room, watching the programs, and waiting for the year to end. It was near eight o'clock, and my brother sat across from me.

"You say somethin' Chi?" he asked, looking up from his phone.

"Nah, Ryu, I'm good," I replied smiling, "Just wondering what the new year will bring our way."

"Don't ya mean who?" he said, smirking. I felt my cheeks heat up a little.

"W-What? Huh?"

"What nothing- I know my little sister. I know that even after all this time, you keep waiting to see this dragon boyfriend of yours again."

"He is not my boyfriend!" I flinched, hoping our mother -or worse, our father- didn't hear what I said. They would have a fit if there was mention of any boy, much less one that wasn't quite human! "I swear, sometimes I wish you didn't believe me!"

"But I do, and now you're stuck with me." he laughed, turning towards the TV set.

"I think Adventure Time is on soon." Hey, I don't care if we're teenagers, it's a good show. He went for the remote in less than a second.

"Five, four, three, two, one- HAPPY NEW YEAR!" My dad kissed my mom on the cheek, Ryu slung his arm around my shoulder and mussed up my hair. I grinned at him. The family cat could be heard bolting up the stairs.

"So, what are everybody's New Year's resolutions?" my dad asked.

"I wanna get better at kendo," I said.

"I'm gonna get my license! Aw yeah!"

"Now, now Ryuken. You have to pass the test first," Mom reasoned.

"That's only if he doesn't wrap the car around a tree," I smirked.

"Hey!"

I got back to my room about my room about an hour later, feeling accomplished. I walked through, and paused. Something was off. I looked around, not seeing anything out of the ordinary. It was something in the air.

"That's weird," I sighed. Then there was a flash! "W-Wha?!" I gasped. There, on my bed, was a folded piece of paper. I reached for it with a shaking hand. I unfolded the crease, and read the note inside.

Happy New Year, Chihiro. It's been awhile, I know, but I can't see you just yet. I hope you can hold out just a little longer.

Until then,
