Disclaimer: I own all the people that aren't in Lord of the Rings. You figure it out I'm to lazy. I wish I did own the Lord of the Rings people because then Legolas would be all mine and none for you. *glomps Legolas*

Sorry if you find the chapters short. I'll make them longer but it's the beginning of a story for me so it's usually short at the beginning.

Chapter One: The Ring

Casey pushed open the door to the little store on the corner of the street. It was where she bought a lot of her prized possessions. It wasn't far from her house. She could walk if she wanted. She spent a lot of her time in there just looking at the stuff in there. She marveled at the treasures she found.

She looked around and saw some old things scattered about. She made her way near the back of the store but something caught her eye. She walked over to a small table. On it were dolls, books, cards, and other stuff but Casey paid no attention to these. She looked at the smallest item there. A ring. It was made of gold and was not scratched or dented in any way. She gently took it in her hand. Her green eyes observed it closely.

"Hi, Casey," a cheerful voice said from behind the counter. "How can I help you today?"

"I was wondering how much this ring was, Mr. Stevens," she replied holding it up.

"Oh boy. I just got that today. Found it outside my shop, I did. I don't know, let's see," he said walking over. He ran his fingers through his graying hair. "You know what I'll do. I'll give it to you for free, I will."

"Why thank you, Mr. Stevens," she said putting it in her pocket. She didn't want to wear it at that moment. Something in the back of her mind told her she shouldn't put it on, not yet.

"Your welcome, Casey," he said before going into the back of his shop again.

She exited the little shop and headed for her house. As she walked down the street she pulled her strawberry blonde hair back into a ponytail. She wasn't tall for her age. She was actually shorter than most her age. Her figure was small and her complexion fair. She was seventeen going on eighteen and her birthday was in a few days. She rounded the corner and headed into her home.
