Melanchimos Chapter 1: Waking up
Snow. It always fell from the heavens this time of the year. Like a sign from the gods that this season was special. Different from all others in that it snowed unlike others seasons. But what really made this season stand out was the holiday celebrated during this time. Though in East Heaven we don't celebrate Christmas like other kingdoms. Instead, we celebrate Melanchimos which means "Day of Snow". But enough about all that, let's move on to our story......
Yet another snowy day in the kingdom of East Heaven. The princesses awoke from their sleep in the same fashion like any other day, griping and complaining about the other. Mint stepped out of her room first after getting dressed, soon followed by her sister across the hall. Both blindly knocked into each other in a haze. Mint and Maya shook their heads side to side.
"Watch where you're going!" yelled both
It was at this moment that Gramps walked up. "Ah Princess Maya, Princess Mint, good morning. I do hope you're both looking forward to getting ready for the party tomorrow. The king has ordered me to make sure you get all that you need."
Both girls groaned.
"Oh by chance would you happen to know a woman named Belle?"
"BELLE!?" screamed Mint "Is she here!?"
"No. The young miss left after I informed her that you were asleep."
"Young my butt......Well what did she want?"
"She was asking if you wanted to go shopping with her for the party. She also said to meet her at the tavern."
Mint couldn't believe that for a minute. Belle. Her arch rival. Wanting to go shopping with her........
"Why not Mint?" asked her younger sister "The more the merrier."
"Yeah right.....At least I'm not suffering through this alone. Come on let's get this over with."

On the other side of town, in the local tavern, Belle sighed.
"That girl better get her soon. I'm not waiting forever. HEY! GET ME A DRINK OVER HERE NOW!"

Two dolls started the morning in a very LOUD manner.....
"RUE! YOU HAVE A GUEST! WAKE UP!" yelled Claire from the kitchen
Rue blinked not believing that someone would come HERE of all places this early in the morning. But he knew better then to not listen to Claire. Ruenis also decided to get up just to see what was happening. After dressing, both entered the kitchen to find Duke sitting at the table sipping some tea Claire had served.
"Ahh Good to see you Rue."
Rue yawned. "Duke....... WHAT IN THE NAME OF THE GODS ARE YOU DOING HERE SO EARLY IN THE MORNING!?"
"Getting you up. DUH!"
Rue slumped his shoulders. Ask a stupid question. Get a stupid answer.
"For what!?"
"Don't you know the Melanchimos party is tomorrow?" said Duke coolly
Rue and Ruenis froze. They had forgotten. Both Mint and Maya would kill them if they didn't show.
"That's exactly why I'm here. I have to get stuff too so I figured why not bring the two of you along. What do you say?"
Not really having any choice (because they really needed help) the two agreed and left for East Heaven with Duke.....after saying goodbye to Claire of course!
