So he loved electronics. There was absolutely nothing wrong with that, so long as they didn't become his whole world, right? They were currently a huge part of his world, but not all of it. The rest was family and friends, of course. But a good chunk was electronics. There was nothing wrong with that.
There was something wrong with loving his best friend's girlfriend. And was was something wrong with being jealous of that same friend for more reasons than just his girlfriend - who was their childhood friend, anyhow. Tucker Foley made jokes. He poked fun at people. He wasn't supposed to have darker secrets. Or, at the very least, they weren't supposed to ever come to light.
Don't get him wrong, he loved his friends (the few that he had). He was just a teeny bit jealous. And had been for a very long time. It hardly mattered. He still had their backs.
He was confident about a lot of things. His looks, his intelligence, his ability to hack into things... but he wasn't confident about Sam. He'd grown up with her. He knew her. She'd been in love with Danny since they were children. A classic case of best friends becoming more. She'd never so much as glanced at him in a different way, and she probably saw him as a brother.
He understood how frustrated she was about Danny's cluelessness, but she was no better.
It was just another thing to be jealous of Danny over. He got everything - ghost powers, girlfriends, and a family that spent more time with him than Tucker's spent with him. Danny's family was really embarrassing at times, as was Sam's, but at least they wanted to spend time with them. And the ghost powers - don't even get him started.
He was the jokester. The optimistic one. But how can you be optimistic if your best friend is dating the girl you're in love with? That doesn't have a bright side. Hoping they break up is just selfish and mean. Hoping they stay together is just as cruel to himself.
Hoping she'd stop flirting with him was okay, right? Because they were supposed to be watching a movie, together, and making fun of the stupidity of the characters. He felt like such a third wheel.
Except he really wasn't watching it either. He couldn't think of any jokes, even as the person on-screen wandered into the forest, just begging to be horribly murdered by the villain.
There was nothing wrong with being in love. It's not like it's controllable. And there really wasn't anything wrong with being in love with his best friend's girlfriend, unless he wanted them to break up - oh, please. He did want them to break up. He wanted Sam to decide that he wasn't as wonderful as she believed. He wanted them to break up on good terms, so then at least they could all stay friends. He needed them to stay friends.
Except that Sam probably saw Danny as he really was. She'd grown up with him, after all, and was willing to call him on whatever crap he pulled on the rare times that he did.
Tucker sighed. No, wait, he did not sigh, because happy, optimistic jokers do not sigh like that. Maybe they sigh in exasperation, but never stress. Never because of some deep dark secret that can't ever come to light.
Sam shot him a confused look that he barely registered in the darkness.
Honestly, I liked Tucker/Sam first. Word Count: 586
Critique? :D
