A/N: So I know this wasn't how the scene went down, this was just meant as a little tag, but I got two scenes from different epis mixed up in my head, namely 'Little Red Balloon' and 'Red All Over'. Hope you enjoy it anyway.
Spoilers: Well I guess you can say there's something in here from the two aforementioned epis, and a little from 'Every Rose has it's Thorn' and 'Red Moon', but it's all in the minimal folks.
Disclaimer: I don't own the rights to The Mentalist or its characters, so boohoo for me, but all the mistakes are mine.
A true friend is one soul in two bodies - Aristotle
She wasn't perfect, but she didn't have many vices.
She wasn't a stunningly gorgeous woman, but she possesed a somewhat natural beauty, that could allure the best of them.
She didn't have a highend job earning loads of money, but she loved what she did and she was good at it.
She might look small and fragile, but she was strong as an ox and could take down a guy twice her size without even brreaking a sweat.
She might have had a though childhood, but she had made her peace with it and moved on.
She wasn't vengeful or spiteful, but she would protect the people she loved and cared for, like a tiger her cubs.
She would always give you the benefit of the doubt, at least until you broke her trust.
She treated people fair and with respect, even when they didn't deserve it.
... and she had seen the worst sides of him, and hadn't run away screaming.
Watching lovers quarrel had made him reflect on love, which in return had made his mind wander to a place he normally wouldn't allow it to linger for too long at a time. He had neither the right nor the freedom to entertain such ideas.
A person sat down next to him, he didn't look, didn't need to, already knowing who it was. He had recognized her footsteps as she had made her approach.
She looked over at him as she asked: "What are you thinking?"
He looked at her briefly, before turning his head back to the scene that was being played out on the other side of the half glass partition wall, then said: "I was thinking, love is strange... and I was thinking about a sandwich."
... and with that statement he left her, heading for the kitchenette. Not wanting to elaborate on the case, and in the process accidentally let his thoughts slip out of his mouth. He had solved the case, and all that extra thinking had really made him hungry, plus he needed the distraction. A good cup of tea and some food was all his mind would permit his body for now. He couldn't afford to let people see what was in his heart, but hopefully someday his heart would once again share control with his mind, 'cause without balance of heart and mind the body lacks its soul. And his soul was all he had left to offer her.
A/N: yeah I know it was short and lame, but my muse is playing hide and seek and is very good at it... so thanks for reading this :)
