A hymn of thanksgiving.
Thou God of my salvation, I plead before Thee
I plead with tear-filled eyes
Lost in wonder at the light before me
I can but sing Thy praise
My life is filled with Thy blessings
Therefore I cry to Thee
Joy and sorrow surround my heart
Indeed my eyes fill
Joy at the glory of Thy presence
Sorrow at sin's corruption
But thy joy overcomes me
Thy love burns through my iniquity
For how can sin endure Thy light?
Or evil invade Thy throne?
In glory Thou sittest in heaven
Thy eye pierceth into this world of sin
Thy gaze tests mortal man
Thy gaze tests me
It tries me and I am found wanting
And therefore Thy wrath is kindled
Thy just wrath comes upon me
May it not burn away my soul!
Let Thy mercy overshadow me,
Through my Master's love
O purify me from corruption
So that I may praise Thee once more
Praise thee with all Thy holy ones
For all eternity, Amen.
