I was 8 months pregnant with our daughter and Jason and I still hadn't picked out a name for the kid yet. We'd narrowed it down, and decided we would go by name meaning. We were snuggled on the couch, the computer balanced on Jason's lap and me beside him with my swollen belly. He typed 'name meaning' in the search bar and tons of websites came up. We scrolled down and finally chose a site called ' .' We went onto that page and then I picked up our (quite long) list of name ideas and got to work. I'd read a name off the list, he would type it into the search bar, then he would read me the meaning and if we liked it, we'd write it down.
"Allana," I started, reading the first name on the list. He typed it in and the results came up.
"Beautiful," he read to me with a smile.
I wrote it down and returned the smile.
"Adima," I read the next one off the list.
He types it in and reads back, "Noble, famous." I can tell he likes that one, plus it would be fitting for a child of the seven, because they would grow up to be noble and they would definitely be famous. especially because my dad is a movie star.
We go back and forth like this for half an hour with somewhere around 35 names until we got bored and started typing in our friends names.
"Ooh! Let's do Annabeth!" I said excitedly.
He smiled and typed it in. "Favor, grace," he responded.
"That's actually fitting…" I said thoughtfully. "Do Ella." I said thinking of my favorite harpy, aka Tyson's girlfriend.
He put that in the website then read it aloud to me. "All, she."
"Oh my gods that's perfect for her. I mean she's a girl, and she remembers practically everything."
"I'm going to do Reyna," he said, and I tensed up, even though he married ME and he and Reyna are friends now. I quickly shook of the stiffness so Jason wouldn't notice. He typed 'Reyna' into the search bar and the results popped up.
"Whoa, Pipes listen to this one. Reyna: peaceful, queen" he said after reading it to himself.
"That's so weird how perfect that is for her." I replied, shocked by the accuracy.
"Do your name now Jase" I told him.
He looked it up and read aloud, "Healer, to heal. That's funny. I'm not really a healing kind of person."
"You are to me," I said, smiling, and I leaned over to give him a kiss. He happily obliged, and put his hand gently on my stomach. We stayed there for a second with our noses touching nd him stroking my belly, and then he spoke again.
"Hey Pipes, I'm going to do your name," he said happily as he type 'Piper' into the bar and pressed 'enter.' He waited for it to load and then laughed out loud.
I looked over at him and asked, "What's so funny?"
"It's nothing bad, it's just that it says here the meaning for Piper is literally Piper. There are no other meanings. You are you and that's it. Nobody has put boundaries on how amazingly beautiful, smart, caring, or maternal you are. You just are all of those things. I love you so much and I love our kid." he said lovingly, placing his hand back on my stomach and leaning in for another passionate kiss. We kissed for a couple of minutes, throwing it back to our teenage years when we used to have 'epic makeout seshes' on the couch. I chuckled a bit at the thought then, had the perfect idea.
"Jason, I think I found that name we were looking for." I said tentatively.
He raised an eyebrow and waited for me to continue.
"Amie Juliet. It's French, you know Aphrodite-language-of-love. It means beloved youth. Cause I don't know about you, but I'm going to love this thing more than anything in the world."
He paused for a bit, then burst into his adorable smiles, "I love it. Amie Juliet Grace, our beloved little girl." He leaned in and kissed me and all the world melted away; I knew that this kid was going to bring a whole new layer of love into our lives, and I couldn't wait.
