"Daddy," Lily Luna Potter begged, "Can you tell me a story?"
"Sure Lily, I would love to do so," Harry replied to his daughter, tucking her into her twin-sized bed. "So once there was a dragon, who lived on his own in the magical kingdom of Theoretical Optimism and then he woke up one day—"
"No Dad, I want an interesting story. You've already told me that story three times," Lily sighed. "It's such a short story. I want a long story."
Lily's growing up so fast, Harry thought to himself, Soon there will be nights when she won't pester me. I really don't like the sound of that. Especially when she starts dating. YUCK!
"Lily, I'll tell you a story about Tigger the Tiger—" Harry said before he was interrupted.
"DAD! That's a sad story! I want to hear about the time you defeated the troll in the girls bathroom," Lily interrupted, smiling innocently.
Harry blushed. Lily wasn't supposed to know about that! At least not for a year when she would be seven. Well, there's no harm in telling Lily a story she'll find out sooner or later. "Okay, I'll tell you, but it'll be a very long story."
"Yay, thanks Daddy!"
"So me and Uncle Ron were sitting in Transfiguration and then you know, Ron can't get his hand-me-down wand to work and turn his toothpick into a needle, or whatever it was. I'm so old I can barely remember what it was," Harry explained as Lily giggled at that fact.
"You're old, Daddy," Lily giggled, yawning and snuggling deeper into the covers.
"Not as old as McGonagall," Harry chuckled. "Anyways, Ron insults Hermione and then she runs off. The night is Halloween and this weird professor with a head at the back of his skull comes running into the Great Hall screaming that there is a troll in the dungeons. At this moment, Ron and I realize that Hermione is missing and somehow we come to realize that she's in the girls bathroom."
Lily yawned and closed her brown eyes. Harry didn't take note of this and continued the story, "So anyways, Ron and I made the intelligent choice to go defeat the troll. We somehow manage to hit him in the head with his own club—like KAPEW, and we stick a wand up his nose, isn't that disgusting Lily?"
Harry was confused by the lack of response from his daughter. He looked at her and noticed that the little bugger had fallen asleep. Kissing her on the cheek, Harry thought to himself, I guess that was a long story after all.
