At The Very Ports They Blow

At the very ports they blow,

Barren roads are filled with snow

Empty of all human life

Cold wind cutting like a knife.

Gales stream past the bolted doors

And windows on the upper floors.

Despite the cold crime does not wait

Either necessity, greed, or hate

Pushes men to break the law

Not thinking of the end of it all.

Justice, though always behind,

Is not the blind leading the blind.

Cries of revenge howl like the wind

Rattling windows, trying to get in.
