DATE: NEW YEAR'S EVE
"Don't forget to come back to the event Plaza for the countdown to the New Year tonight!" Isabelle called out to me as I walked out of the Town Hall.
"Don't worry, I won't!" I responded, as I took off towards my house. I just needed to get a few things done, get ready, and then I could go to the plaza.
I was putting on my jacket as I rushed out the door.
"Oh, I never got my mail today," I remembered as I passed by my mailbox. I hadn't had time to talk to anyone today because I was so busy - I hadn't even had time to talk to my best friend, Skye, and on every other day, I talked to her until we ran out of things to say.
I grabbed my mail and jogged over to the Plaza. It was right by my house. I greeted Isabelle, and then I found a place to stand and wait for the fireworks.
"Let's see," I said to myself as I scanned through my mail. "Happy Home Academy, thanks for ordering, interest - oh, here's something from Skye!" I squealed as I tore the envelope open. But then I realized that I hadn't seen Skye here. Weird.
I opened the letter and read what it had to say.
December 31st, 2014
Dear Paige,
We've been best friends since that day two years ago when I moved here and you came to welcome me. Over time, our friendship has grown so much. It seems like it hasn't been long, even though it's been two years. But I realized that if I felt like two years were short, I would stay here my whole life because I would always feel like we hadn't spent enough time together. I wanted to talk to you before I wrote this, but I couldn't find you anywhere.
"Ten! Nine! Eight! Seven! Six!" everyone chanted as my smile started to go away.
I want to be able to accomplish my dreams, but if I stay here forever, I won't be able to. I guess that what I'm trying to say, is -
"Five! Four! Three! Two!" the animals kept chanting.
This is the last time you'll be able to hear from me, because I'll be gone by tomorrow afternoon. But just know that I'll miss you with all of my heart, Paige. I'll be thinking of you from the big apple."
"HAPPY NEW YEAR!" the whole town screamed at the top of their lungs. I crumbled up the letter in my hands and burst out into tears. I dropped the letter on the ground and stomped on it angrily, running back to my house and turning out the lights.
Author's Note:
Yeah, I know, kind of weird. But that's just how I am. This literally happened on New Year's, though.
Every.
Last.
Part.
I was so mad. But that's not the point. I hope you liked this!
