The characters rightfully belong to Stephenie Meyer. I'm just borrowing them for a bit of time.

Edward, my son, had found a love. The only problem was, she was human. And, to be quite honest, I didn't see how this could work out. My son was dead set on not changing anyone, not stealing anyone else's soul... but the way he had been since he found this girl, Bella, was brilliant. In all my years with Edward, I had never seen him this happy.

I didn't want him to lose this happiness, either.

Edward had always been the unselfish son. He loved all of his family. He never said anything mean about the fact that everyone else was paired off. He seemed... complete in himself. He never searched for anything more; Edward never really wanted anything more than what he had.

Until Bella.

When he took off, my heart broke. When he was in Alaska, I worried for him. Carlisle told me that if we gave him enough time, he would do what was right for himself. We could trust him. I was happy when he came home. I hugged him so tight that night.

Now he's spending all of his nights, and most of his free time, with Bella.

I just worried about his happiness. I worried about how this could affect him. I guess, I was worried about my son.

"Mom?" I heard a soft voice question as I felt a wave of calmness and acceptance wash over me.

"Hey Jasper," I said softly. I patted the space on the couch next to me.

Jasper smiled and scooted over to me. He rested his head on my shoulder and I instinctively put my arm around him, rubbing his back some. With his special power, Jasper was always able to stop my motherly fears. I loved Jasper very much.

"He's gonna be okay, mom," Jasper said softly, snuggling close to me.

"Who?"

"Edward," he stated, matter-o'-factly. "I know that you're worried about him and his relationship... with Bella," he stated softly.

"I just can't help it. I just want Edward to be happy."

"We all do, Esme," He murmured my name softly. "We all do. And he will be."

Jasper and I sat like that for quite some time, just quiet. We didn't have a need for words. My son was comforting me in ways that I didn't know were possible until I met him. I was thankful for my family. They were truly my life.

"Mom? Dad? Guys?" I heard Edward call.

"He's nervous about asking something," Jasper whispered as we got off the couch and walked into the foyer to meet Edward.

"I... I'm gonna bring... Bella over... for her to meet you..." Edward said softly, though I caught every word.

My heart sung.

My baby boy was happy.
