Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars, only the majority of these characters and these situations belong to me. I did not prophet from writing this. Do not sue me.
Author's Note: That being said, I just want to let my readers know that this is my first fanfic. I used to be a real Star Wars fan, but it has been a long time since I have read any SW so if I write anything that is inaccurate in any way, and that bothers you, lemme know! (I am trying to make this as true to all aspects of SW as I can—particularly the chronological aspect—so don't hesitate to let me know if I mess up. Enjoy!
STAR WARS: JEDI SCHISM: WARRING FACTIONS
Introduction:
It is approximately 800 years BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin). 200 years have passed since the defeat of the Sith at the epic Battle of Ruusan. Over that 200-year time period, the Jedi Council has made many changes to the Code that it deemed necessary for the betterment of the Jedi Order. Many of these changes were radical and unwelcome to many of the Jedi. The Council affected these changes, however, with the best intentions—to reduce or eliminate the loss of Jedi to the dark side of the Force and increase devotion to duty.
A considerable group of Jedi Knights held that these changes were unjust and in stark opposition to the original intent of the Jedi Code. These Knights considered themselves the true guardians of the Code and the Jedi way. The Jedi Council referred to this group with the non-provocative term "Traditionalists" or "the Traditionalist Faction"; they numbered just over 500,000 members during the year 800 BBY.
The majority of the Jedi Order, however, was in favor of these changes. They too considered themselves the true Jedi and they saw the changes as necessary to protect the Order and its goal to preserve peace and justice in the galaxy. They had the authoritative backing of the Jedi Council in addition to superior numbers—slightly under 1,000,000 members in 800 BBY. The Traditionalist Jedi referred to these as the "Reformed Jedi."
The year 800 BBY holds significant historical gravity, as well as infamy, because it denotes the period in the history of the Jedi Order when the heated debate over these issues reached its violent climax, resulting in some of the greatest losses ever to the ranks of the Jedi Knights.
This is the story of how a brief but bloody civil war broke out among the Jedi Knights…
