Author's Note: I wanted to try something different, and this is the result.
Disclaimer: I don't own the show or any of the characters (as if anyone didn't already know that). Kim Possible and all related characters belong to Disney.
SOULLESS
He didn't cry that day. Even as they lowered the casket into the ground, Ron Stoppable didn't cry. The people around him cried in his place.
There, on that cloudy day, he stood still. His eyes dulled and devoid of emotion and life, he just stood there.
The day Kim Possible, his friend, his lover, his wife, his partner in fighting crime, lost her life, he lost his soul. His being, entwined with hers, had been ripped apart. What was left of it, drained from him with the river of tears as he held her lifeless body in his arms.
Drakken had finally won. But it came with a price. Even Shego cried for the loss of her adversary. And she did nothing as Ron destroyed the last pieces of his soul, the thing that made him a Child of God, in a frenzy of rage that left Drakken dead, an unrecognizable heap on the floor of his latest lair.
The soul he had pledged to her on their wedding day had left him. Only the physical manifestation of his essence remained.
He had become Soulless.
After the funeral, Monique came to him. She clung to the last piece of her friend, and he to the last piece of her.
"Ron.."
She called him Ron, yet he no longer bore any resemblance to the person once known by that name.
"Make me forget," came her plea.
Together they tried to console each other and ward off the evil of the world. Their affair of the flesh was nothing more than comfort, an escape from the harsh reality of the world. For Ron it provided no comfort, for he had no soul to soothe.
She cried. Even as she lay with him, Monique cried. She knew; there was nothing left of him. Another friend was lost to her.
Even before that night, she saw it coming. As Ron left for the bathroom that night, she didn't stop him. There was nothing left to be done for him. As the shot rang through the apartment, she knew. There was no need to go see what had happened, she knew.
He pulled the trigger... and there was nothing. No white light, no lake of fire, nothing. The moment the bullet exited his head, he was swallowed by darkness, consumed by nothingness. On the day his love lost her life, he had truly become Soulless.
From high above, Kim Possible saw it all. She watched his life drain away from him. She watched his empty shell go through life, but not live. The moment her beloved vanished from all existence, she cried. And the heavens cried with her.
It rained. For seven days and seven nights, it rained. The rain did not rejuvenate, it did not bring life. The earth was salted by Heavenly Tears. On the eight day, she renounced her soul. She too vanished.
She had become Soulless.
They lived together.
They loved together.
Death did them part.
They became Soulless together.
THE END
