Wanderer
One foot in front of the other
Down the dusty road
Fleeing all the yesterdays
The past I cannot change
One foot in front of the other
Into cities I've not yet seen
Going somewhere, anywhere
But nowhere I call home
One foot in front of the other
Through a fledgling era
Taking temporary solace
In the smiles of the children
One foot in front of the other
Down the dusty road
Wandering toward the future
Into the arms of the unknown.
Author's notes: I write a lot of poetry in my spare time, and this little piece, upon re-reading it, made me think of Kenshin, probably during his ten years of wandering. I don't honestly think this is the best piece of poetry I've written (that honor going instead to "For You", a very long, very sad, angsty poem for an original story I'm working on.), but I like it. Reviews are appreciated as always!
