"I never get like this, okay.. I never lose control over anyone." "I'm supposed to be flattered?" "Yes. So could you please forgive me so I can stop getting drunk?"
"I'm not uptight!"
Control was Kevin's main issue. His line of work did not present any problems in that regard. He knew how to win, he knew precisely what to do to get his way. Relationships were something else entirely. And Scotty, well, he was even worse.
Maybe that is why he loves him. Scotty is anything but a puppet. Even some of the strings that he could pull, finances for one, were not safely in his grip. Scotty's pride prevented Kevin from getting greedy in that department. This relationship is so far out of his control: it is scary. Half the time he is terrified because of it but the other half is pure heaven. He is enthralled and thrilled and out of his wits, all at the same time. And so very, very much in love.
Of course, uptightness and control are two sides of the same coin…
"Loosen up" was the expression Kevin hated most in the world, yet he heard it more times than he could remember. "Let your hair down" came a close second. His hair was fine the way it was, thank you very much. Sarah's movements on the stage remind him of the army bar and the enthusiastic crowd there. Sarah was on her way to becoming very popular; Scotty's friends simply adored her. Not him though… since he was so uptight. Now, he has to show them, moreover, show him: Scotty.
