She looked back at the ship, knowing it would soon disappear into the sea just like it had done 13 years before.
With it he would die. Would die because of HER doing. Elizabeth knew she couldn't do a single thing about it. She had made her decision. It had been the wrong one. But it had been made, there was no turning back now. She had left Jack to die, had abandoned him to save her own skin. It had been a decision made in seconds. She hadn't thought about it, hadn't thought about what would it involve.
Elizabeth wanted so badly to turn her gaze away from the Black Pearl, didn't want to see his end, but she couldn't. Her eyes were fixed onto the ship. So she just stared, her hands clenching into fists, half hoping she could conjure him into their boat.
She felt the sea quiver and knew it was only a matter of minutes until Captain Jack Sparrow would be dead. One enormous tentacle emerged next to the ship, threatening to destroy it.
Elizabeth hold her breath, she feared the moment it would crash down. But it didn't. She hoped that Jack, the most famous pirate she ever heard of would be able to defeat the monster. Then, the head of the kraken appeared from the sea. Immediately, she knew what was about to happen. Still trying to look away, Elizabeth began to cry.
Realization struck her. She was in love with Jack Sparrow, had loved his attitude towards life. She was a pirate, just as he had said. Nothing but a bloody pirate.
Tears clouding her eyes, she didn't see the beast swallowing Jack. It destroyed the Pearl, Jack's most precious treasure, taking it to the depth of the sea.
Elizabeth wiped the tears away, looking to where the Pearl had been. She flinched as she saw nothing but water. He was gone – dead. She turned away, knowing she had lost him forever. She knew the regrets would haunt her forever. There was nothing she could do about it, it had been her decision. Her fault. Very slowly, she took out a brown box and opened it. It was his compass. It pointed north…
