CHAPTER 1

The air was thick and putrid. It tasted of .. well he didn't know but it made his throat heave. Then he saw what he had being looking for, but not how he wanted it to be. Abruptly he turned his head away and was sick.

The bodies of the transgenics that had originally spawn the ground were gone now, all that was left of the siege and the violent fight that had followed were a few useless discards that the homeless didn't even want.

Logan stared down at the site from the high place that had she so often frequented when her needle wasn't possible. He wished he had done things differently but he was blinded by love and if he went back, he would do the same again, he knew that deep down.

She was his life, he loved her as much as anyone had ever loved and she made him a better person for it. All so he had thought. Looking back he realised the gift she had given him in replace of his love was the potential feeling of distrust, jealously and hatred he had felt. Not a worthy exchange, but she had loved him in her own way, as much as a girl with her past could. He had never gotten over what that meant.

So he carried on chasing her and the cure, he knew he was losing her with the siege starting, even more then the virus. So he stayed in terminal city with her, he knew he wasn't much help, most of the transgenics could match and better his computer skills but he was vigilant. He kept all the information he found a secret so he could be the one to further it and present to her, and see the happiness in her face.

The lie about her and him was soon diminished, he had forgiven her for lying like he always did, though this time it wasn't her fault. He had probably persuaded her about it, he hated him as much as she had grown to love him.

He realised the difference after the cure for the virus was found. Well he noticed it before that, the day she told him the lie. It was a lie, but there was a chemistry and friction there between the two of them. Now he came to think about it, their whole relationship was just that from the moment they met, chemistry and friction. Foreplay probably, deep down these were animals who got revved up and got kicks from each others' scratches and bites.

She wasn't like that though, he had managed to change her, indroctrite her in this own methods of love to believe what he believed but then he came along and she was distracted by him, and some of our beliefs dwindled inside of her when he came. Even when we were together alone, it was him that she focused on.

Before when there was no cure, he could excuse her slumming with him but not now the cure was here, now they would be together.

But he was the one she ran to for help, comfort, distraction from her problems and the one Logan hated most of all, her heat.
