Hey everyone. This story was written for both Love in Motion and Defense Against the Dark Arts: The Curse of the Bogies Task Two on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For Love in Motion I wrote for the Crack pairing of Charlie/Hagrid. For Defense Against the Dark Arts: The Curse of the Bogies Task Two was to write about someone fainting during an event. Charlie and Hagrid hatching their first dragon egg together as a couple just wouldn't leave my mind once I read the prompt. I hope you all enjoy How Little Dragon Babies Are Born?.
"Hagrid," Charlie called frantically as the egg on the table began to shake, "come quick it's happening."
Hagrid lumbered over to him excitedly taking in both the shaking and trembling egg and his excited human boyfriend. Charlie's excitement for the big event seemed to be catching as they both settled in to watch.
"What d'ya think it'll be, Charlie?" Hagrid questioned watching the younger man over the egg that now sat between the two of them.
"I don't know," Charlie answered thoughtfully. "By the looks of the shell it could be a Chinese Fireball."
"But it's not the customary red. And the size is a bit off for it to be a Fireball. Maybe it could be a Ironbelly?"
"It's not as big as an Ironbelly egg, Hagrid." Charlie reached over playfully slapped the half giants shoulder. "I think it looks more like Short-Snout. Don't you think it looks like a Short Snout?"
Hagrid shook his head. Almost jumping out of his seat to catch the egg as it almost tipped off the table and then righted itself up.
"Our baby's a little troublemaker," Hagrid exclaimed with a chuckle. "Isn't that right?" he whispered to the egg as a huge crack went up the center of the shell.
"It's getting closer," Charlie exclaimed. "Our baby is almost here."
Shorter smaller cracks started to spread out from the crack running down the center. Both Charlie and Hagrid leaned in closer as the shell started to fall away. Charlie watching with anticipation as the shell slowly started to tumble off of the scales of the tiny baby dragon sitting in the middle of the table.
CRASH!
Charlie looked across the table to where their gentle half giant had once sat. Getting up and going around the table Charlie found Hagrid on the floor out cold.
"Better go get, your father up," Charlie whispered to his and Hagrid's new baby Norwegian Ridgeback . "He'll be so excited to finally meet you."
Going over to the other side of the table Charlie gently began to shake Hagrid's shoulder knowing it'd take away to wake his giant from this. He shook his head as continued to try and wake Hagrid. This he hadn't been expecting.
"It's another Norwegian Ridgeback," Hagrid murmured coming back around again. "Norbert's going to be a big brother."
I hope you all enjoyed How Little Dragon Babies Are Born. It's a short fluffy bit of fun. Also I couldn't help but put in a little shout out to Norbert the Norwegian Ridgeback from Philosopher's Stone. He now has a baby brother or sister. Yay!
