She lay in the grass. She had given up hope, she was to weak to go on and no one had come along the road. She was so discouraged that she didn't hear the hoof beats coming along the path, and with that she closed her eyes.
Numair saw something moving out of the corner of his eye. He stopped his horse and looked into the woods, a girl lay there, possibly unconscious, obviously sick. He thought for a moment and decided. He would take her to Alanna, to the castle of King Jonathon and Queen Thayet.
