Me and Brittany. Best friends forever. We were inseparable. Until the one day that changed my life. She left.
It was late July, and I was shopping with my mom. I saw that I had a text from Brittany saying "At the airport, come quick! ~B" I didn't say anything to my mom as I ran out of the store and down the street to the local airport. I looked around and when I saw her, I ran over to her and hugged her tightly, knowing something was wrong. As I looked down at her bags, I got confused.
"Hey, Brit. I thought you were only leaving for a few days…"
She looks at me fully now, with red puffy eyes. "San, I'm..moving"
I look at her in complete shock, not wanting to believe what she just said. "You're..kidding right? You gotta be kidding.."
She shakes her head, tears falling out of her eyes.
I hug her once again, tighter than before, not knowing what to say. Her mom comes over and tells her that they have to get going. [And that was one of the last times I'd ever probably see Brittany Pierce.]
I now have two best friends, Noah and Quinn. I was one day sitting in my basement playing a board game with them when my brother came running downstairs, saying there was a phone call for me. I got up and picked up the phone, seeing the caller said "Brit3" I quickly started talking into the receiver. "Brit, Brit are you there? I miss you s—"
"Santana, Sweetie this is Bernice. Brit's mom…"
As Bernice talked to me, I felt my heart shatter into millions of pieces. I hung up the phone and ran up to my room, starting to pack my bag with random stuff. Clothes, supplies, makeup, dolls, blankets, everything. I ran downstairs and booked a flight to Pokipsee, Tennessee.
As I arrived at Brittany's house, I got out of the cab and pulled some money out. Brittany's brother, David, came running out and paid the driver, pulling me inside while holding my stuff. He pointed me in the direction of her room and put my stuff in the guest room. I slowly walked upstairs as I looked at the walls, lined with pictures of the family. I walk into her room and see her on the bed, and i couldn't help but gasp. Her usual blonde, flowy, beautiful hair was now faded, and tangled. Her skin was an olive color, and now it's all pale. I looked around her room and looked at all the pictures of them together. Then, I saw this one picture of her that I gave to her for her birthday one year, with the caption "Physical beauty? You can make it. But inner beauty? You must create and shape yourself, because it's just inside you. Happy Birthday, Britt. I love you with all my heart. 3 San." I traced my finger over the picture when I heard the faint voice of Brianna interrupt my thoughts.
"S-San?"
"Yeah, Britt. I'm here"
"I-I'm sick..I-I have cancer.."
My heart ached when she said those words to me.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you…"
"No, Britt don't be sorry.."
"I-I love you, San.."
"I love you too, Britt...Don't leave me.."
"Bye…" That was her last word. She died that minute, holding my hand. Her parents and brother ran in with the ambulance, and I didn't even know. I was crying so much. My eyes were all foggy.
