2021
As Miley was walking along the beach she looked up at the multi-million dollar beach-front homes. She was particularly taken with a Mediterranean-style house with terracotta tiles covering the patio when she realised she knew one of the women sitting at the table on said patio. It had be ten years but she would know that face anywhere; Lily.
If it weren't amazing enough to be seeing Lily for the first time in ten years, Miley also saw that she was now wearing a wedding ring on her left hand and that that hand was resting on a stomach that looked, Miley guessed, to be about seven months pregnant, was incredible.
A lot had changed for Lily, a husband, a baby on the way and possibly a Mediterranean-style beach-front property (Miley didn't know if it was Lily's or the brunette woman's she was sitting with). Miley was sad she had missed Lily's big day but at least she'd be there when Lily had her first child.
She was stirred from her thoughts by the two men and two little boys that had come on to the patio. Miley's mouth dropped again when she realized one of the guys, the blonde one, was Jackson. There were more shocks in store for Miley when the two little boys, one looked four the other about six, went up to Lily.
"Mummy, Mummy, I did it, I swam properly, just like my swimming teacher told us." Said the smaller boy with a huge grin
"That's great honey, you'll have to show me when I take you to your lesson on Tuesday." Replied Lily smiling
"Mum, Mum!" said the older boy
"Yes Honey?" asked Lily
"I stood on Dad's shoulders and jumped off, it was so cool but Riley was too scared." At that the smaller boy frowned
"That's because Riley's younger than you Aaron, maybe when he's your age he'll jump off Dad's shoulders too."
"Yeah." Riley added then stuck his tongue out at his older brother who quickly returned the gesture
"Ok, ok, lets get you two in the shower, once we've got them showered and dressed we'll get the barbecue going." Said Jackson then the four of them headed inside
"You have him well trained." Commented Lily's friend
"I didn't have to train him, Jackson just a wonderful husband and father."
"Your so lucky Lily, you have a great husband, two beautiful boys and a girl on the way, not to mention a great house." Added her friend as she glanced toward the house
"Yeah, I am very blessed, but you have it good too Renee, Shaun's a great husband and in just under three months you'll have a baby of your own."
"Yeah I'm pretty lucky too."
They sat for a moment thinking about their lives until Renee spoke
"We should probably make a start on the salads so we'll have something to eat while the guys cremate the steaks."
"Good idea." Agreed Lily as they shared a laugh
"Oh and you remembered your baby shower's on Friday?"
"I still can't believe your throwing me one, aren't they really only for your first baby anyway?" said Lily as she and Renee began clearing the table
"Yeah but your having a girl after having two boys, you're not going to dress the poor girl in hand-me-downs are you?"
"No, I've been shopping, I've got some girl things, I really don't need anymore baby gear."
"Look at it this way, it's really just an excuse for your friends, particularly the childless ones, like Nicole, Ashley and Jess, to go in to baby stores and go gaga over little pink dresses and booties."
"I have a feeling after this baby shower the nursery is going to be overflowing with baby girl things."
"Yup, think pink, think lots and lots and lots of pink." Miley heard Renee say as they went inside
