The Watchmaker No More
by Meilanu

All my life I wanted to be special. I wanted to be noticed. I didn't want to be known as the son of a watchmaker. I didn't want to follow my father's footsteps. I wanted to be big, to be someone that everyone would know of.

My mother had always told me that we would always be living small, quiet, not out there in the world. And I found that quite boring.

So when a man named Chandra walked into my quarters, I was almost glad that someone had actually paid attention to me, that they noticed me. He was going to change my life forever, into something huge, something epic. I could feel it.

After a few tests and questions, he began to put his possessions away. He said I wasn't worthy. That he made a mistake. He crossed my name from his list and stood up. He didn't bother to take a glance at me as he left.

I was furious. Not worthy? A mistake?

Gabriel Gray didn't exist in my world anymore. He died, by my hands.

I stabbed him over twenty times.

Instead, someone else exists in his place. One that was far more superior. One that wasn't useless, one that would do great things in the world. I looked at the watch that Gabriel was fixing. It was labeled as...Sylar.

It was then, when I had decided.

My name is Sylar. Watchmaker no more.

I was going to prove Chandra that I was worthy.

And he would regret his choices.

Sylar.

Everyone would grow to know this name. Everyone would grow to fear this name.

I will be marked in history.

Sylar.

A/N: A bit of what I think Gabriel might have been thinking when he decided to become Sylar. I haven't been updating lately, so I decided to write this. I'll try to write more soon (: Hope you liked it. I wouldn't say this was one of my best works, but it's pretty decent, I hope.

Edit: Sorry about the name mistake (a stupid mistake on my part), ahem but yeah xD
