I'm A Hero in Their Eyes
A new victim comes in every day,
A new face, another story to tell,
And I'm the only one here who listens.
In their eyes I am a hero,
But all I think of myself as another normal guy who's
Out to help some wounded person in this bloody war.
But in their eyes I'm a hero,
And I can't change that.
So if I'm a hero,
Let it be that.
A soldier came in the other day,
Told me he had a wife with twins back in Kansas.
He's never got to see his babies.
Never even got to feel their fuzzy heads.
He never had, never will unless
If I am able to save him.
Which I did…
Cause in their eyes I am a hero,
But all I think of myself as another normal guy who's
Out to help some wounded person in this bloody war.
But in their eyes I'm a hero,
And I can't change that.
So if I'm a hero,
Let it be that.
Called my dad the other day,
He said he missed me,
That he wants me home soon.
I said I wish I could come home to you,
Cause I miss you so,
But I can't cause I have to help these people.
Cause in their eyes I am a hero,
But all I think of myself as another normal guy who's
Out to help some wounded person in this bloody war.
But in their eyes I'm a hero,
And I can't change that.
So if I'm a hero,
Let it be that.
If I'm a hero,
Let me save the world.
Author's Note:
My first MASH poem. I hope you liked. More on the song side, but for now, it's a poem. I hope you liked. It was in Hawkeye's POV.
