On the eve of Yusei's birthday, she arrives with a gift and a joke under her sleeve. [post-canon drabble, set around two years after the finale, some friendly Yusei and Aki chatting about their bonds. K plus to be safe.]

Forever

Aki Izayoi got off her D-Wheel, holding a small package in her hand.

Today was the birthday of her friend Fudo Yusei and she had gotten him a small gift. It wasn't too costly or anything like that, but she hoped that it would show how much she valued their friendship. Nodding to herself, Aki walked up to his home and knocked on the door. A couple of moments later, it was opened by none other than Yusei.

"Aki!" he exclaimed, a bit surprised. "Jack and Crow had arrived an hour ago but I didn't think you'd be able to make it..."

"I will always find time for your birthday and other celebrations like that, Yusei."

He chuckled and moved aside, allowing her to walk inside.

"Of course, how could I forget?"

"You seem to have grown forgetful in your old age." Aki joked, handing him his present. "Happy birthday, Yusei."

"Thank you, Aki." he took it and smiled. "And to our friendship, may it last forever."

"May it last forever." she repeated with a smile as they gave each other a friendly hug.

Life was good, the future was safe, their bond as a team still strong as ever. It couldn't get any better than that.

No, Yusei is not an old man. He is, in fact, only turning 22 here and Aki was just joking, in case anyone was wondering.
